Base64 represents bytes; it does not encrypt them
Text is converted to UTF-8 bytes and then represented with the Base64 alphabet. The result is convenient for transport through text systems, but anyone can decode it.
Example input
Hello, 世界
Expected output
SGVsbG8sIOS4lueVjA==
Behavior
- Encodes Unicode text as UTF-8 before Base64 conversion.
- Preserves padding characters when the byte length requires them.
- Multiple levels encode the previous result again.
Limits and edge cases
- Base64 increases size by roughly one third.
- It provides no confidentiality, integrity, or authenticity.
- Binary-file handling is separate from encoding text pasted into this tool.
Processing note: tool input stays in the browser. Readme.now analytics records page usage, not the payload you paste or the generated output.
